Oh noes!!! Its the return of...........

I didn't own a mustang when the original Cobra "tick" problem was occuring, but I was lurking forums and it was a common complaint. Hope this isn't actually a "problem" and if it is, it isn't widespread.

uuuu if by "all" you mean everyones but mine. I have NO unnormal or "extra" ticks that I have seen others complaining about. I even started it today in my buddies garage and he couldnt believe how smooth and quite it was......well besides the Magnaflows we put on

I dont think most ate referring to abnormal or extra ticks. I think the majority are simply hearing the fuel injectors.

Can't imagine buying a 412 hp, 11:1 cr car, paying $35K+ for it and then putting 87 octane in the tank. Surely the extra couple of bucks a tank isn't going to break you. If it does maybe you shoudn't be driving a high performance car in the first place.

The octane is beside the point. Who knows why he put in the lower octane gas, but there's no need to attack the guy.

Well me and 2 of my friends started the car in my garage and did everything we could to find this tick. None of us could hear any tick. I also used to have the 03 Cobra that was said to tick. Never got the tick in it either. Maybe I am going deaf.

Maybe he put 87 in it because the people who spent millions in R & D on the motor said putting 87 in it is ok. Just a thought.

those 2011's are supposed to be able to run off 87 quite well..u just lose like 10hp. but with that compression...93 is probably way better...but with the way the cams run in those engines, it could be the valve springs but i don't blame u, if i spent 35k+ i'd want it to run like silk..

I had always used 87 octane in my 07 without any problem and in this day and age every little bit to save can help. Being in the military I dont make great money but I do make enough to easily pay for the car. If the owners manual says you can use 87 octane you should be able to. I know the typical ford v8 tick and this is not it. It was so loud i could hear it with the radio on i didnt have to look for it. The dealer is waiting to hear back from ford on where they should start. They gave me a focus as a loaner and the salesman was asking me how i liked it. Are you serious i just bought a brand new 5.0 and you are asking me how i like a fricking focus. I almost wanted to punch the guy in the throat.
