I know how you feel, after having the car less then a month, the parking attendant at my building put a 4 inch by 4 inch gash on my front bumper. I mean you can see pieces of the bumper hanging off like shavings. Luckily the garage insurance covered a bumper replacement at 500 bucks, I then put that towards a complete Casco kit so it sort of worked out.

But driving around with that gash for over a month was torture.

I have to say, it's struck me that I should be thankful that I live in central NJ. With the population density that we "enjoy" along with the comparative affluence of the area a Mustang GT vert simply doesn't draw that much attention, either from prospective vandals or from The Man. What with all the hot vettes, BMW 6s and 8s, Merc SL55 AMGs and what-not... My Little Pony is almost stealthy.

Also, I've been keeping careful watch and it really seems like the local cops very much prefer to hassle the ricers. My little turd of a neighbor in his $50K Civic gets pulled over about twice a week.

sounds like stupid kids....probably driving a Honda.

I doubt it was personal, just random bullsh1t.

That totally sucks. It happens to nice cars all the time. [:@]

Welcome to California. Sorry about the bad experience. You might just be living in a bad neighborhood or something. Your profile says Bay Area, but not which town. I've lived in my home for 16+ years with no cases of vandalism in my neighborhood and only one theft case, which was likely an "inside job" by "friends" of the teenager living there. Other areas have much worse problems.

Still, my car stays in the garage when I'm home and gets parked in front of our receptionist at work to reduce the temptation for anyone doing anything to it. I also keep a car cover on it whenever I leave it parked for more than half an hour. Eggs wouldn't get through to the paint and it also protects from door dings and seagulls.

So what town did this happen in, so I can be sure never to park my car there?

I live in Santa Clara. I'm deep in a large housing area, with no outlet. There's no reason to be where my car is unless you live here or know someone who does. It's an upscale area with alot of nice cars like BMW's and Mercedes and Infinitis on the street. It's too obvious that they picked my car specifically.

The people I am living with are of course like "THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE, I CAN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE WOULD DO THIS!".. Whatever. The worst part is part of the reason I chose this place was because they promised me parking close to the house (which is practically trespassing if someone comes that close) but a week after I moved in they decided they didn't want those spots taken. Even after telling them about this they insist the street is safe and it must have been a one-time thing. I'm not convinced.

Sorry that happened to your car..... It sucks when people mess with your property no matter what it is. As someone suggesteed earlier I am sure it is not the GM fans. Most of us like the stang just as much as our own cars and anybody who vandalizes another persons property needs to hang by ther B@LLS.

I think with your post and the one titled "Shorty Antenna Jacked" it's time for all of us to get locking car covers.
Anyone have experience with which one will work best? Best prices?

I had my stang vandalized last year. I come walking out of school and some SOB had ripped my mirror off, bent my windshield wipers and broke my antenna in half. Never found out who did it. If I had, he would not be among the living....
