14 or 16 gallons?
The gauge reads zero when you have 2 gallons left because they know people will run the tank all the way till the gauge reads zero and starve the fuel pump. Try driving after your gauge reads 0 miles till empty and see how far you get. If you get 40 to 50 more miles before you run out of gas, you have a 16 gallon tank lol.
Probably because he only puts like 13-13.5 gallons in it every fill-up before the pump clicks off.
Protip: The "Miles Remaining" counter on your car is extremely pessimistic. It is like this so that you fill your car up before you actually do run the tank dry and let your fuel pump overheat.
My SHO has an 18.6 gallon tank in it and I never put more than 14-15 gallons in it. The one time I ran it dry (put 18.5 gallons in it), the fuel gauge was almost a full quarter of a tank below the E.
Until you run it until the engine dies from fuel starvation, THEN fill it up, you will never put anything close to 16 gallons in it. Ford uses fuel as a coolant for the pump; they don't want you running it dry.

And I don't have the "Miles to E" feature all my dash says is how many miles I have lol.
Like the others said, Ford doesn't want you to run the car dry and you shouldn't want to either! Because replacing the fuel pump will be expensive, or if you are a do it yourself type a real biatch!
