CAI Questions and Doubts of a rookie....
Hi, I am from Spain, as you probably knows the Stang Gt its not for Sale, Ford doesnt sale the Mustang in Europe, but I have one (2006 GT).
The previous owner of the car made some mods on it and give me a Steeda CAI and a SCT tuner with the car, but no installed.
What are the steps I have to make to do the Tune?? I know how to install the CAI but The tune its another history....
do i have to unplug any fuse?? (oil pump fuse?), I guess the custom tune is on the Tuner with all ready to install, but if its not, what Octane I have to put?? (I use 95 oct gas)
thanks for the help

The SCT comes with some preloaded tunes for different octane levels. You should have a choice between 87, 91 and 93 or 94. All you need to do is plug the SCT underneath the dash (make sure your key is in the off position) and follow instructions. It will ask you things such as what it is you want to do and give multiple choice answers to choose from and it will ask you to turn the key on or off at times....but make sure you never, ever turn the engine on when the tuner is plugged. It pretty simple and straight forward.

There used to be a very good tutorial (video) on the Brenspeed website. It's probably still there. Loading the tune couldn't be more simple. No fuse pulling; just follow the steps in the video and the prompts on the tuner.
Make sure you adjust the octane. We use a different system. Your Research Octane of 98 is roughly the same as our 93 AKI (Research + Motor Octane / 2 = Anti-Knock Index).

The example even used a Steeda Intake.
Additionally you may want to check under "Custom" to see if your unit came with some custom tunes specifically for that car.
The Custom tunes usually perform better than the standard canned tunes.

The octane should be based on what the tune was written for. Hopefully, your SCT will say what the octane is when you go to load the tune into your PCM. Of course, you could play it relatively safe and put in whatever the highest octane that you have available (other than aviation fuel) since you'll be ok with higher octane than what the tune was written for.
PCM?? sorry what is that?
So I have to use the highest octane (93).
Gene K, your link is perfect I guess, watching it I think the tutorial shows every step I have to make because my CAI is steeda to, so I have to go to pre-programmed ( the pre-owner told me something like that, that it was pre programmed on the SCT) so in that case I have to follow every step right?
sorry for the questions, but since english is not my first language its not easy to understand technical things

if I do something wrong and the car goes bad, I can always back to the stock settings right?
if I have the tuner preprogrammed with the steeda setup and my car Code (as I guess) its not important to update the tuner, right?
