Default 2011 GT Quiet Engine Problem Solved...For Free

I've complained about how quiet the engine noise is in the passenger compartment and done some poking around and found that there are 2 foam inserts in the tube feeding from the intake tube into the passenger compartment. I removed them and voila, I can actually here the engine. Good thing is that the engine noise stays the same unless you really get into the throttle. You guys might already know this but below is the link if not.

I feel like the interior noise is just right as is. Its loud at throttle but not deafening
And its quiet when cruising

Agreed. I kind of like it the way it is. I wouldn't mind a bit more of an aggressive sound coming from the exhaust though.

Try it and see, it only takes a minute to do and the difference is incredible. I race mine and was having real trouble hearing my engine over the guy next to me so this is an "inexpensive" way to solve that problem until new exhaust is installed.

I couldn't believe it when a 5.0 owner friend of mine showed me that snorkel and even then I followed it's route all the way into the cabin because I still had trouble getting my head round it. I can see that being the brunt of countless Chevy/Dodge owners jokes LMAO
Needless to say my friend is looking into any possible side effects of simply blocking it off (He's over 12).

i remember when making your car louder involved a screwdriver, hammer, and mufflers.

It's not really a new thing. BMW has been doing the same thing on their Z4s for a while.

Don't like the snorkle. Had it on a road course recently and sounded terrible when pushing it. Here we have a high reving, twin overhead cam, peaky European sophisticated engine and all I hear at high RPMs is a flat blatantly fartey, droney noise from the intake. Going to look into disabling this for sure.

Cheers.
