Almost in the home stretch. Just gotta send in my title. Now I wanted to remove the leather seats so it can have some resale value at least and they told me that if I do that it would diminish my check. Are they BSing me? Also, just found out I have a herniated disk

You'll be able to afford new seats when a lawyer gets a hold of the person who hit you!

And for all those suggesting it- never attack the idiot who hits you. Especially if you might be hurt. They could use the attack as PROOF that you weren't actually hurt in the accident. And then they could sue YOU for more than you've got!

I'm not saying you should feign injury (like the folks who get hurt when in bus or train accidents) but get to a hospital ASAP, for documentation if you're hurting.

 

You should be able to settle the car part of the claim without closing the medical / injury part of it. Don't settle the injury side for a few months, until you know that you're actually ok. For my motorcycle accident, I settled the bike within 6 weeks, but waited over 6 months to settle the injury part.

They are correct about changing the value when you remove something from the car. Just check how much it would change the payout versus how much you can get for the seats and see if it makes sense.
