Default Does 2011 have wheel hop issues??

Can anyone tell me if the new 2011 V8 or V6 Mustangs have the same wheel hop issue that the 05-10's had? I would hate to have to put the same suspension parts on the new Mustang that I did on my 05. Thanks

Odd that you would say that, my 09 wheels have never hopped.

Just took mine to the track last weekend and it will wheel hop if you launch at too high of an rpm (or at least mine did). About 4500rpm was all she could handle with Nitto Nto5r 275/40/17"'s, any more and mine hopped.

Have you had a chance to try in the rain? That was when mine was the worst. I would like to think that Ford fixed this problem before the new model, but haven't heard anything on the subject.

I take it easy with my Razors (275/35/20) in the rain so I haven't experienced any wheel hop in the rain.

the 2010/2011 suspension is pretty much identical to the 05-09. It just has beefier components. I haven't been able to drive a '10+ car yet, but I'd bet money they suffer from it still

you have never really layed into then...or are very lucky.

I had the problem really bad when on the 235/50/18 tires...now that I'm running 275/40/18's it isn't as bad.

but when I really hit it hard, they will hop...and rain makes driving the car pretty much no fun. can't wait to install my suspension stuff to get rid of that wheel hop.

Yea, I hated to drive mine in the rain. I had to get rid of the hop or the car. The suspension components really did the trick. But my car was used and I would HATE to have to install them on a new $35k car.

Don't mean to de-rail your thread, but what exactly is wheel hop? How does it cause trouble in the rain? Just curious (don't have a Mustang yet, but looking to get one).

Thanks!

I have not noticed any wheel hopping yet. I drove in the rain the other day and was seeing how far I could push it on starts before it broke loose. Got them to spin for sure but did not experience any wheel hop. As for dry conditions I have not romped it from a stop but have spun them thru 3rd gear without any hopping.

You have no idea....feels like the dash is going to bust apart. Lowering made it go away though.
