Default Hard Shifting

Hey quick question here.

I have an 05 GT 5-spd. Recently the car has been difficult to shift between some gears while driving. Specifically, the 2->3 shift has been really difficult. So much so that the wife is complaining about it when she drives the car.

1->2 seems a little harder, but not bad and I really haven't noticed much difference in the 3->4 shift.

The 2->3 shift was so difficult that at the track last night I actually missed 3rd gear a few times to the point that I really had to think about that shift to make sure I got.

Not knowing much about tranny/clutch stuff I don't even knwo what to look at or track down at all to determine what might be going on.

You can't adjust the clutches on our cars because they are hydraulic, and whats up with that advertising crap?

I would possibly try to change your tranny fluid, how many miles do you have?

+1 how many miles?

My car felt "notchy" at 40k miles, changed to royal purple and it smoothed things out pretty well. And what do you mean by "hard" to shift. You mean it refuses to go into gear, more effort is needed, or it just feels "notchy" and not as smooth as it was before?

Usually its difficult for reverse because of the lockout.. Just go from 4th then into reverse.

Mine is difficult to go into reverse from a stop. Difficult meaning sometimes extreme pressure will force it, other times I bring it back to the neutral position, wiggle it, and then it goes in reverse fine. '05 GT as well. Does it mean anything??

When putting it in reverse go to 4th gear first with the clutch put in then put it into reverse.

Do you have an aftermarket shifter?

I have a Hurst and the shift was also difficult into frist and reverse - and I found out why- the bolt attaching the shifter to the tranny housing/lever had backed itself out.

FWIW

Good luck any way- Steve

On my car it was a sign of impending slave cylinder failure.
