Default what is.....

what is the part of the mustang's exhaust that the cats are welded into... what section of pipe is that called...?

I believe its the h-pipe. I think factory order from the engine is manifold-> h-pipe-> midpipe-> axle back

Old school would call them exhaust header. exhaust pipe, muffler and then tail pipe, on most all cars. I guess on the newer Mustangs, it would be exhaust header, cats, x or h pipe, mid pipes and then a muffler/tail pipe combo.

Its the mid pipe. followed by the catback,then the axleback.
