Every vehicle had two sets of wheels / tires, one summer-only, one winter-only.
I do the brakes on all my vehicles myself, so they are cheap.

Not planning to take this thing on I-80 through Wyoming in the winter (survived that drive once and will never do it again, no matter what the vehicle)...just need to use it around town. Putting it away for the winter is not really an option....

In Boise, we really don't get as much snow as say, New England...just enough to concern me though. Think I'll just spring for a set of those Blizzacks.

The F-150 will be used for trips of any appreciable distance....

This is what winter does to mustangs and that was "around town" for me. Just FYI.

Driving more carefully is key, shovel in the trunk along with extra weight sand works good for weight and spreading under tires for traction. Traction control helps a lot but your right foot is really where it counts! If your worried that your wife driving in the snow with the mustang give her the F150 in the winter

Yeah but on the bright side your car is all nice and Roushy now. Still hurts to see those pics, or any pics of a Stang after a crash.

They were the stock 17" Pirelli's at the time. I'm never using Pirelli tires again. They are still on my old wheels which I'll use them for winter wheels. The next time I use them, it'll be 1) burn them out 2) get to a tire shop so they can dispose of them.

Which Pirelli tire? A summer, all-season or a winter tire?

The stock tires are all-seasons; a.k.a., not fit for winter driving.

Until recently I've always used summer-only in the summer and winter-only in the winter.

The wife has been burning through $1.5K of summer-only tires every 12K miles on her Porsche. She is now running all-season w/ 6x the mileage rating for her grocery store runs.
