Default CAM HELP???????

Can somebody enlighten me on cams?
I am close to pulling the trigger on FRPP HotRod cams for the pure sweet sexy sound of them. What I want to know is what are the affects on horsepower, good/bad, low end/top end!!!
what are the benefits and disadvantages to spending $1000-$1200 for the KOOL factor of the sound?
I know we got some experts on the subject in here, so lets here the good, the bad and the ugly.
Thanks guys (and gals)

Cams are the most important part of making HP as far as internal engine components go. You should know what your final goals are and purchase a set of cams that will work best for that. Dropping that kind of money plus labor or hours doing it yourself for sound is a waste. Let us know what your plans are for the car then we can chime in with some good suggestions.

She is my daily driver with 61,000 on her, so I don't want anything crazy. The sound is the main thing I am looking for. But a small HP gain would be KOOL too. I just don't know what they will do to my start off low end HP.

If you are worried about the loss of low end tq then have 4.10s installed. I have 4.10s and NSR comp cams and I feel no loss of low end tq. I also had over 75,000 miles before I put my cams. on.

Hey there TWOKOOL, Just my 2 cents here.......If you like a lumpy/lopey cam sound, as well as your car shaking at idle, plus intimidating those around you....You will absolutely love the HotRods. But IMO,... I strongly suggest that you also get LT headers with these cams, plus a good custom Dyno tune is a must !! I've had mine in for almost 2 years now and I'm still extremely happy with them. When I was NA with 4:10 gears, I personally didn't notice any loss in low end torque. And FYI, with these HotRods I did pick up an additional 25 RWHO with a good top end increase. You certainly feel it above 4000 rpm's, that's for sure. Have Fun !!!
