Default Shaker 500 Error

Okay so I went out to my stang this morning and it wouldnt start. The battery was completely dead and the shaker 500 would show a cd error and begin clicking any time i opened the door. I did a lot of research on it today and it sounds like this issue is pruty much the end of the headunit. Is this correct? And if so what kind of setup should I change it out for?

Have you charged the battery yet? If not if it is the same thing I had with my original 2007, then what happens is your stereo is resetting and reloading all the disks in or checking each slot.

Going by all the problems with the shaker 500 taking batteries down/out, I would say that replacing it with a brick is a move-up.

I went with a Pioneer unit, many others have take different routes. Just look around at electronics retail stores and see what you fancy, it's that simple.

Just don't cheap out and buy a single DIN unit like some do, drop the cash on a full size replacement

Pioneer AVIC's are really inexpensive and give you virtually everything you need. I' get that before using the crappy shaker 500 HU again.

I'd suspect the garbage OE MotorCrap battery before I'd suspect the HU going. You'll find all kinds of threads about the battery causing weird Shaker error messages.

I agree with Nuke, I'd suspect the battery. Going into winter is a good time to get a new one.
I hear a lot of complaining about the Shaker 500 system. Personally, I haven't had any problems with mine in my '06 GT and it has 75K miles on it. I know that a lot of the aftermarket systems are cool, but I like the looks of the OE system, but that's just me.

I actually have a duralast battery in it so its not the oe battery at least. Ill try the battery reset when I get home and post back with results. The shaker 500 isnt too bad i guess I mean the sound seems to be pruty good, but I'm definately more knowledgable on the performance stuff over the audio/electronic stuff. I'm almost clueless on what I should look for in a replacement besides just the fitament. Any suggestions on good hu brands/models?
