You can also gets programs like AllData, and Michell that will tell you anything you need to learn about your car. How long it will take to fix, what parts are requires and how much to charge.

i'd also like to mention that when it comes to cars, i'm pretty much a beginner...i would like to learn as much as possible though...that program may be too much for me as i know little about how cars work/operate entirely so i'd like to learn as much about general automotive knowledge and lead up to that kind of program

Here's one for you.

http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=41 Used it to build a 4.6 motor and perform alot of mods.

Stay away from the Sean Hyland book. It's pretty worthless.

Not sure how serious you are, but you might want to check out the local univeristy or one near you to see if they have a Ford ASSET program. Its an intense two year program, with full access to their Ford technitian society website, web based training, ASE certification, and even an apprenticeship with sponsoring dealers. By the end of the program (2 years). you'll be a fully certified Ford tech.

I've rebuilt 3 motors, did 2 swaps, a few manual trans rebuild, used a dyno and have full access to tools and a full shop... it's tons of fun but also very demanding academically. It's very cool, tons of young, and like minded smart people into tuning and cars.

That's what I am doing right now.. about to graduate soon!
