Default WTF mileage?

Was just browsing through some youtube clips of exhausts on mustangs and noticed one guy had 334 miles to empty on his odometer. For some reason, the max I have gotten on a full tank on the reading was 205 miles (or 330 kilometres as it says on mine). Is it because mine's a gulf specs mustang and has a smaller fuel tank? Somehow I feel kind of cheated What's the max you guys get to empty on a full tank reading?

well think of it this way OP, if your getting 205 on a full tank, divided by 16 gallons, that would mean your getting 12.8 miles per gallon, i doubt your getting that horrible of mpg.

+1. But I would not put to much stock into what your computer says. Figure it by hand and count the miles yourself. If it still sucks, then try to figure out whats wrong.

Using the on-boards' miles to empty is a very inaccurate method of determining your avg fuel mileage. Hand calculate at each fill-up and be sure to reset the onboard at the pump, too. The avg mpg value of the on-board is somewhat useless too, but is good for relative readings.

City driving on these S197's yield in the teens with all highway yielding averages in the mid 20'sand even those will vary significantly from driver to driver and area to area. Throw in all the other variables including % ethanol and there's no way in hell we can all get within even a few MPG's of one another.

99% of my driving is either highway or steady, back road cruising. My GT averages 23 - 24 MPG pump to pump of slightly mixed driving or at a steady 65-70 MPH and 27-28 MPG on a steady cruise between 55 and 65 pump to pump. That would equate to between about 370 - 445 miles on a full tank.

dude....... I get the same mileage with a mixed hwy/city driving (mine's an american car too). Taking the tank down to nothing might get me 330kms. A tank lasts me a week in my driving style - not bad compared to my 4.7l V8 G. Cherokee....god d*nm pig that one is

For example, after a full tank fill the computer showed 300 kilometres right? After wiping that out..on average...my trip reading shows 280ish..KILOMETRES..THATS RUBBISH MILEAGE!
