Ever hear of look before you leap? Still, it's probably worthwhile to get your hands on a report. Maybe as usefull as getting familiar with the TSB's associated with the S197's and which ones have been addressed by the previous owner.
Yep, it's a bit late to look up the Car Fax already, and using that to negotiate your price.

***One thing you should be aware of: Car Fax is not accurate because there is no way to know if the person did the oil change himself or simply did not do any of the oil changes at all. The same goes with other routine maintenance: brake pads, turning rotors, tune-ups, and so forth. If these things are not reported to Car Fax, Car Fax will not show all these things.
The bottom line is assume the worst and check it all yourself and fix the problems as you find them. Car Fax or any reports form the used car dealers will not expose negligence. Although, reputable used car dealers will find and fix most problems before they even sell them (but even this is not 100% reliable).

Car fax is not 100% accurate as information is not always relayed to them such as private service or minor fender benders not reported to insurance, but it is a good way to help identify if there was a major accident to the car, as that will most likely be reported.
Also service obtained at a dealership will be reported to car fax and is a possible way to find out what TSB's may have been addressed. It has it's uses here and there but is not something to rely on 100% as service records, just a way to get more info on a pre-owned car.

1st, congratulations on your purchase. I hope it brings you many years of satisfaction.
and finally, 2nd, why can't you go to the carfax website and get the report yourself? They take credit card and it will only take a few minutes instead of asking someone here to spend their own money on someone who may/may not be a troll.
Good luck none the less.

I asked here because some people pay the montly fee already so it doesent cost them to run mine..i'm sure not asking for someone to spend money on a stranger!! thanks you for the welcome. on the vette forums it was never a problem in the past.. its not a big deal just cool to see where the car came from and how many owners.

+1 agreed, for instance my car has seen a dealership/shop maybe a handful of times for oil changes. I do them myself now, also I have gone off into a ditch and had to replace the whole front bumper cover and headlight which none was reported to insurance. Also I have rear ended somebody and that wasn't reported to insurance either. Show me the clean car fax report
