the new 2011 v6's?
hi, it's my first post sorry if i'm in the wrong place. but what's a good price to pay for the base model v6? i was at two of my local dealers today and at one of them i was offered 22,500 for one. the other didn't have the color i wanted in stock. i was trying to get 21,000 because the other dealer had grabber blue (manual/premium) for under 20k. is it reasonable to get one for 21,000?
i understand it's a new car and they don't want to offer too many discounts but when is selling them for 18k i assume it's reasonable to get one for 21k.

With the $1000 rebate, X-Plan pricing, and the $750 brochure coupon, if you get it, $21k sounds very reasonable.
Also, I think you are mistaken. No way a premium V6 went for under $20k. It's probably base and the dealer calculated the discounts into the price.

i know i'm in san jose
but those were all grabber blue manuals. eww they totally ****ed up with that color imo. you're talking about frontier ford. i was at sunnyvale ford and the salesman wouldn't budge down from 22,500. he was playing dumb games too, the initial price he offered was 26,000, when i know i can build one cheaper w/o dealer rebates online...

I got an ingot silver manual base coupe for $22,800 out the door after tax, title, and license back in September; the sale price on the car was ~$20,800. That's with the $1k ford rebate and $500 military discount. And I still had to haggle with them for 2 days. I'm in San Diego and they had to drive to LA just to find a manual in a color other than grabber blue. Maybe they're a bit easier to find now and you'll have better luck, but with the 5 or 6 dealerships I was dealing with, this is the absolute best I could find at the time.
Also, you are right, the V6 premium is simply out of the question for a $20K price. More like $26K and higher.
The OP is best waiting until next August and September when the 2012s are on the lot and the dealerships are discounting like crazy to get rid of the 2011s left over.
Very few people get the brochure coupon, and to even get the alphabet plans (A-, D-, X, etc plans), you have to be an employee of Ford or affiliated with Ford or a sub contractor of Ford. Very few people qualify for that.
