Default Help! UDP Install Problem

I bought a Steeda UDP from a friend (2005 GT). He went FI so it was never installed. I began the install this afternoon. No issues with the removal.

On the install, the first problem is the new crank bolt from the ford dealer (PN: F5RZ 6A340 A) is way to short. Is the correct bolt 340 B? Think they gave me the wrong bolt. Anyway, everyone was closed or had none in stock. So I had to reuse the old one. Guess I'll be waiting till monday now.

Second problem. After install was complete I started the engine. I noticed some smoke from the UDP pulley area (thinking misaligned belt/chaffing). I shut the engine down. Turns out the back of the UDP was rubbing a nice circular groove in the face of the engine block. So the UDP was very quickly removed to assess the damage. Back of pully is fairly scuffed. Face of engine block has a nice circular grove worn in. It doesn't appear to be damaged to bad. I think its still sound, its just looks like *ss now.

I double checked the Steeda UDP online, and 05-10 pulleys should be the same. Note, he lost the Steeda install bolt, so I used an install kit and reused the stock bolt (the longer bolt shown in the picture). The shorter bolt only engages a couple of threads.

Advice?????????????

So im assuming you didnt notice the pulley was flush against the block when you tightened it down, or did it somehow pull itself against it upon startup? There should be about an 1/8" gap between it and the block when seated. My first guess is that pulley does not fit your car.

There was a small gap from the top looking down. The belt appeared to be tracking straight. I didn't think to check from the bottom before i started it.

The correct bolt is 340 B. You only damaged the cover plate, not the block so it's fixable. Can you post another pic of the pulley from the front. It doesn't look right.

Yeah, i kinda figured the bolt was the wrong p/n. Now i'm stuck getting a ride to work on Mon from the wife while i wait for a bolt to come to the dealer.

Anyway, here's some pics of the Steeda pulley. I'm very bothered by this whole mess. My crank is sitting barren right now. No pulley. Probably leaking oil. Block is gouged. What a wreck.

Bruce is right. Not only is the bolt wrong but that isn't the right pulley to start with.

This is the correct kit right here:

Its mostly cosmetic, dont worry about it. get a new pulley and your good to go.

Thanks for the info from everyone. I may just keep the factory pulley anyway. The UDP pulley sat in his garage for about 2 years before he gave it to me. So I doubt American Muscle will accept any type of return or exchange even though they sold him the wrong part to begin with. And I cant wait forever for a replacement and i'm not tearing things apart again.

Oh well it would have been nice. Will have to fix my signature block too.
