Default Mustang Resale??

So I have been considering trading my pig in for an Audi because of the wheel shimmy and came to discover that mustangs 'aint worth jack on the resale market. I have seen some low resale but these cars are taking the cake. Kbb for my ride is like $16k which is almost 50% of its value lost from when I bought it 13 months ago. I ran some queries for similar cars in its class and the mustang is by FAR the car with the worst resale value. The camaro barely lost any value in comparison. My sister just traded her 2010 camaro and got $24.5k for it and she paid $28k for it a year ago! Wtf man? Looks like I am holding on to the shaker for a while since I figured without a doubt I could get $18 or 19k for it. Just amazing the loss in value...

I also had the wheel shimmy. I got a road force balance and it solved the problem. It was covered by the warranty.

Supply and demand.. there are A LOT of mustang on the market, especially since the 5.0 came out, it killed the resale value because of the influx of people trading in to get the new 5.0.

If Chevy came out with a new engine in the Camaro, it would kill its resale value also.

I'm not happy about that either. I suppose you have to pay to play.

I'll keep the '07 GT for my "grocery car" when I go after an '11 or '12...

Unfortunately the the step up from the 2010 to the 2011 was so much that the resale value of the 2010s really suffered. If people were looking for a V6 they would probably either look to an older model (2005-2009) which would be much cheaper, or just get a 2011.

He also has the old 4.0 V6 in his vert. The resell on the '10 V6's really took a hit with the introduction of the new 3.7 with 305hp.

Dealer trade-in always sucks. They have to make money off your car. Wait a year, the 2011s won't be much better.

I'm more surprised that you're surprised at the loss on the resale value.....do your homework *before* you buy the car. I could have a German import for the loss alone that I've taken on my last four mustangs. Buy a car because you want it.

You also are trading in a Mustang with a (No offense) crappier engine in them than the newer v6's. The 05-10 v6's are garbage and aren't really worth anything. Even slightly used 08-09 v6's are going for about 11-13K. Pre-11 V6 Mustangs don't hold their value at all.

If you have the money to trade your car in after a single year, I don't see how resale loss should effect your wallet any. I don't know about everyone else, but I plan to keep mine for quite awhile.

I think the real loss would be having an Audi :'(
