Default grinding into 3rd from 2nd in cold weather

It just happens once or twice when I first get going in the morning. This has been going on since right after I bought the car, but it disappears so quick I can´t replicate for the dealer unless I leave it, so I haven´t bothered yet as I hate the rental clunkers I get.

Exact symptoms:
Has to be below 50F outside or so and car completely cold.
I drive out, get going and shifting into 3rd it grinds, and cold degree depending, maybe a second time after that. Then it´s gone until the car is left to sit again in the cold for a good while. This is the ONLY gear it grinds in.

Thinking perhaps someone here would read this and be like ¨oh ya, 99% sure it´s xxxxx¨.

Yup that happens to me too. I dont think much of it since once the car is warmed up it goes away. usually before i leave when the car is cold i go threw the gear pattern like 2 times.

It looks to be an at least documented issue, as I looked up a TSB for the 07-08 that fits the description. It´s TSB 09-9-6

How long is the power-train warranty? I´m at 41k+, I think I´ll have to deal soon with a rental clunker to have the synchronizers replaced before the warranty expires.

Edit: Link to said TSB(Technical Service Bulletin)

My T5 does that often.

Mine did it too, had to have the transmission rebuilt from the TSB. It was 100% covered under warranty (2,450.00 repair costs). The difference was night and day.

Starting in 2007, all Fords came with a 5 year - 60,000 mile powertrain warranty, that includes the transmission. You should be good to go.

Ugh...Lameness.

Got it set up for service, (like 3 days after I'm set to get 4.10's installed from a good recommended shop here) probably going to take like 5 days according to them. Verify by dropping it off the previous night, then couple days for parts, etc..

If I get a Prius for a rental from them, someone's goin' down.
