Default Questions about clear bra

I recently sold my 05 GT and bought a 07 Shelby GT500. I have never had a clear bra on any of my cars however now that I own a Shelby I would really like to protect it from front end chips. I know when I put the brand new Roush bumper on my old GT that just hitting large bugs would sometimes put a little chip in the paint. So my question is this, first of all what shops specialize in installing these?? Also, I see that you can purchase the clear bra already precut to fit your car from 3M. Anyone install one themselves? If so, how difficult was it?

There is a vinyl/window tinting shop here that does them. They charge about 4-500 depending on the car.

While I was getting a vinyl blackout panel installed on my, the guy was doing the clear bra on another car. I dont have the patience to do that myself. Its more involved than I would have thought. I am sure you can find videos of the installation on youtube and see if it is something you would feel comfortable doing.

I've had a few of these things, they are great! I've gotten all of them from Xpel authorized installers (using 3M material).

There is a dealer finder on their website:

I just posted this in the appearance section where someone else was just asking about clear bras...

******

I have a pre cut clear bra on my car and it fits like a glove. Extends from side to side, bottom of front bumper (just above chin spoiler) to just below the heat extractors.

It's pieced as follows:
hood - 1 piece
fenders - 1 piece ea
front bumper - 4 pieces (front of bumper, top of bumper, 2 pillars next to head lights)
head lights - 1 piece ea
fog lights - 1 piece ea

...and I highly recommend having a professional installing it. After sitting there for several hours while they applied it and re-worked several areas to get it just right, it's definitely an art.

Below is the design I went with. My installer printed out the designs and applied them using his clear bra material.

Yeah installing the hood piece, or the lights/mirrors isn't too bad, I've done it... but the bumper portion that has to fit perfectly is definitely best left to a pro.

Thanks for the replies. I think I could handle the hood and headlights but definitely don't want to do the front bumper so I will most likely end up leaving the entire job to a professional. With that being said I did call one local shop here in town and they quoted me around $400 which I didn't think was bad.

Thats not bad at all. I've paid anywhere from $400-650, depending on the car.

That price is not bad at all.

I paid $500 for both materials and labor for my entire clear bra. Well worth the money.

Do not do it yourself, find a good shop and go there. Make sure u see some of their work first. If not done right u can see the marks from tools any lint or debri under the film even finger prints.
