Default Please help with decision **update**

I have a 2011 5.0 and i am upgrading my wheels to 20x8.5 in the front and 20x10 in the rear. Looking for the best tire size for these wheels without the tires sticking out past the fender well because i am going to lower the car a little bit. I want a nice staggered look while keeping a good amount of sidewall. i am looking at 255/35/20 for the front and 275/45/20 in the back.....
Any Thoughts????
Thanks in advance for your help and Happy New Years!!!

ok im doing 19x8.5 with a 245/45 & 19x9.5 with 275/40

I'd stay away from the 20's.

I'd do 18's.
Plenty good size wheel and wont hurt your performance like the 20's.
I don't care what the 20" guys say. That's my belief and opinion.

I know they hurt. Trust me.
Less weight and rotational mass is always good my friend.
Get you some nice 18's with fat tires to go with them and you'll have the best
of both worlds. Looks and performance.

20s look nice, but will hurt performance, stay with 18s. 275-35-18 fit nice.

Yuck, 20's... another clown car. Makes me think of the chariot race in the movie Ben Hur.

You'll also be increasing your rear tire OD by 2.5" with that 275/45/20 which will 1) further hurt performance and 2) throw your speedometer off by over 5 MPH.

Going to 20's requires you to go to a low profile ("rubber band") tire like a 30 or 35 series. Again, yuck... wagon wheels.

To each his own.

Use this to help you pick the right tire size: http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

I would do 18x9 up front and 18x10 out back. Then I would go with a tire atleast as wide as 275, but not wider then 300 out back, and at least as wide as 250 up front, but not more then 275. Whatever the size, I think it would look best if the difference between the width of the front and the width of the rear was about 25. So, if you went with 290s out back, 265s up front would look nice because it is about a 1" difference.

And remember: the wider up front the more the car will tramline on worn roads. I have 275's all around and if I was to do it again I'd go 255's up front and 285's rear.

Agree with 18x9 and 18x10. Tire size I would go with the usual 255/45/18 and 285/40/18.

Going from stock 17" to staggered 18" was heavy enough for me. I wouldn't want to do 20's. You can definitely feel the weight difference.

So I did a little playing with the calc and I would do 18x9 up front and 18x10 out back. On the rear, 285/40R18, up front 265/45R18.

You will be going like about half a mile per hour faster then your speedometer will show at 60mph, so no significant difference (.00744 times faster [.744% {100.744 mph at 100 mph on speedometer}])

20's hurt performance? LOL! its so little that unless your plaining on using your car at the track only you will never see how VERY little they effect it. You can ask all the guys I crush on the street with my 20's how much my performance is hurting......as they watch my tail lights fade away
