Although my 2011 GT says it will get 25 mpg. I am real sorry. That may be true if I was in neutral and going down hill. When I stand on it. I can actually watch the gage go down. But then if you want 412 hp, gas mileage should not be that important. Remaining gas mileage???????? How about , Park it. Then you will get great gas mileage.
What are you talking about Willis?

The GT gets Geo Metro gas mileage compared to my 2009 GT500.

I was averaging ~25 hwy, ~20 hwy/city, ~18 city with my 2008 GT.

Those numbers fell to ~20 hwy, ~15 hwy/city, ~13 city with the Shelby.

I also have a hard time not going WOT in straight city driving.

There is an app for android phones called "mileage" and it can also create a back-up file to keep track of MPG plus some other statistics. Works great.

As little stock as I put in my on-board in-dash MPG calculator, I did however observe the following avg MPGs. But before I begin, let me recap my gear I had in my car at the time.

Gear:
Tune: stock (I haven't looked at MPG calculator since I had my tune)
Hardware (bolt-on stuff and all): all sotck
Rear gear (diff): 3.31:1

With this totally stock setup, on 100mile all interstate freeway driving at 65-70 MPG, I observed 28-29 avg MPG Hwy.
Any faster than 70MPG and the avg MPG drops.

For driving around town, which includes some hwy, I observe 24MPG.

For in-city driving with lots of stop-&-go rush-hour type of traffic, I observe around 19 MPG.

Something else to be sure of: Reset the on-board at the pump when you fill-up and don't touch it until the subsequent fill-up. Resetting it in between fill-ups results in meaningless information. For example, resetting it on a downhill stretch of highway will indicate something like 35-99 MPG. If you report this as your fuel mileage, I will personally come to your house and stick a fork in your eyeballs. Others will follow...

I find that the Mustang has a relatively small tank compared to some of the other vehicles I owned. Therefore, it takes less gas to fill up. Besides, who buys this car to keep it in low RPM's and save a buck here and there. By the way, the myth that hybrids save money is a load of **** too, sorry to digress. I just fill up the damn thing and don't bother at looking at the price. I guess Ignorance is bliss and this formula works for me. Thats the cost of doing business with a sports car !!!

I didn't buy my Stang for economy; I bought it for the wood it gives me when I drive.

I typically rest the calculator every time I fill up. The only exceptions are when I want to observe MPG for a specific set of driving condition.
For example, if I go on a trip that will mostly be freeway and is 100 or more miles, I rest it once I embark on the trip and do not reset it again until I finish the journey, one way that is. Even if I make a fuel stop mid-journey.
If I want to observe MPG in in city driving in rush-hour conditions, I reset it from my house and do not reset it until I get to where I am going.

If I want to know my typical avg MPG over time, I will not reset it for like a whole week, or two weeks, depending on if I know what kind of trips I will be taking and what kind of driving conditions I will be doing.
The MPG over time for all sorts of driving, especially for your normal day to day driving, is probably the best use of the MPG calculator.

Oh, and yes, I have seen my calculator peg out at 99.9MPG\, and not even from going down hill in the middle of a drive, just by simply stepping on the clutch pedal and coasting on a flat!

Each time you run thru a tank, as you know the mpg can vary. Now, when you fill up, the computer uses that last average to calculate the entire tank distance you can drive. Then, when it gets down to the end....that number will vary. If you cruise on the highway and drive for mpg's, it will really screw with your mind.

I doubt it has anything to do with the station you choose.

At least, this is what I have seen in both my '07 GT Vert we had and in the '11 GT/CS.
