Default 2005-06 color problems

I was just wondering what some of the different problems are you all face with your colors, such as white gets dirty fast, red attracts too much attention, etc. Thanks, this will help me to decide what color i want, it will make it less of a struggle for me.

White is real good at hiding scratches and small dings... Looks sharp at dusk and dawn also... Finally, not many white GTs in my neck of the woods, actually I have yet to see one, including mine

I chose white

I have a 2005 Mustang - Torch Red. It gets dirty just as fast as any other car does.
I bought it back in June and washed it every week since then. I like to wash it on weekends, so I can throw a coat of wax on it, it takes away any water spots. I like the way the red stands out after waxing.

Dirty: You'll find it will get dirty one way or another no matter what color you get, it will show.

Atrraction: Red - Don't you want attraction? Chick magnet.

I think just owning a Mustang makes you still out.
While deciding on what color, keep in mind if you are going to add any mod like stripes, what is the look you what to achieve.

Go here are play around with this:

Don't base you color selection on the car getting dirty or whatever you might find.
You will regret it later down the line, go with your heart.

I have a black stang, and that's my personal preference, even if it's the hardest color to keep clean, next to white. I think it's all about person preference, but every color has it's downfalls and pros to it.

I personally like the black and sonic blue, but sonic blue isn't available for 06 now. My least favorites are the classic colors and the red. If I see one more red 05... i'm gonna blow it up. [:@] Go with what color makes you most happy though, or do something custom?

Having owned 2 prior Mustangs to this one, I can offer the following:

1985 White SVO - Got dirty fairly quickly, but easy to detail with some rubbing compound and a good wax.

1998 Yellow Mustang GT - Amazingly enough, it did not show dirt, unless right up on it. Once clean, very bright and shiny.

2005 Windveil Blue Mustang GT - Does not show dirt. I have only really washed it once in the 2 months I have had it. Just hosed it off the other times. (It is about time to have it detailed and waxed really good.) I ordered this color for this reason, and it seems I am one of only 3-5 Windveil Blue GTs in Houston.

I love my Satin Silver. Black looks sharp, but doesn't show the lines like the silver. Tungsten is also a wonderful color.

Yeah i was just curious of the pros and cons of each color. Right now i'm stuck on those neutral colors, the tungsten grey, the black and the performance white. Something about that white is so standout, and i'm not a fan of white vehicles at all, but it's got a deep attribute to it.

on the mustang specifically, sonic blue

cons: sonic blue is a dust magnet (i finally broke down and bought a california duster). also, once somebody pointed out the whole "orange peel" phenomenon, i notice it more and more.

pros: i love the color and i have received nothing but positive comments on it from others.

personally, I'd pick a color that you like rather that worry about how hard it is to keep clean, etc.

what's this "orange peel" phenomenon?
there is a thread on here i think, but in a nutshell, the paint finish on almost all modern cars isn't smooth. instead, upon close inspection, you'll see that it has texture, like an orange peel. it's most noticable when looking at a reflection of a distant object, viewed at a shallow angle. do yourself a favor and don't seek it out; once you know what to look for, it's all you'll see. people claim u can reduce the orange peel effect with a wetsand, polish detail, but that procedure isn't foolproof and isn't a perfect fix in any event. i live with it and never point it out to people.
