Default SCT 2 Problem.....

I just reflashed my car with a new tune, I followed the directions exactly, and now the check engine light is on and the (cars) message center reads "failsafe engine mode"

What do I do?!?!

Thats first time hearing that with Xcal 2. Email your tuner and tell him he will fix it for you. He might have did something wrong.

The guy that I bought my SCT 2 from told me he has had some trouble with the 05 mustangs in general. Some of them are buggers to get dialed in. He told me that if you put a CAI on without reflashing/tuning it this exact problem comes up and the car goes into a limp home mode and you cant get above 2ooo RPM. I am assuming thats what the fail safe mode is. This doesnt seem to apply to your case but problems with the mdoifications that some guys do have had an impact on performance and getting the car too leaned out. I would say to try to reflash it once to see if it all goes away. If that doesnt work then get a hold of him and see what he has to say.

You try to flash back to stock tune? Then reflash the custom tune?

Yeah, I tried that. Same problem exists with 2 of the 3 programs on the tuner. I don't get the error with the 93 octane tune, (which I can't get in CA). I switched it back to stock.

Brenspeed has been very helpful and is working on the problem for me. For those of you who have never dealt with Brenspeed (.com) before, I'd just like to say that I have recieved what I believe is the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! Brent has been very helpful and I'm sure that anyone who has bought from him would agree.

I will post more once the problem has been solved.

I second the customer service statement. Brent has great customer service. When my XCal 2 had a problem, I called him up and he overnighted me a different tuner that worked.

Good customer service is hard to find. I'm going to check out www.Brenspeed.com. I'm interesting in reading more about the fix and your overall results when you get it going.

Try to re-reflash it...... If it still does the same thing with that tune, reflash it back to stock and talk w/ your tuner dealer.

Brent overnighted me a replacement which will be here some time today.

He called me today when he recieved new information about the problem from SCT. As of now it seems that the brand spankin' new software update from SCT has a glitch in it, (as I understand it). SCT is planning on having a fix for this issure by tonight.

I hope I am explaining this right, or close enough. Maybe Brent will find this thread and elaborate on the subject......

I will post a follow up later.
