So, when I pop my hood, it makes this really obnoxious squeaking noise. It's like nails on a chalkboard. It's not a huge deal, but I like that manly pop when it opens as opposed to this.

Any idea how to fix it? I've pounded everything I can find in the latch area with WD40, but to no avail.

 

Try looking at the hinges........maybe the cable......have someone activate the cable and you listen.

 

I have. It's definitely in the latch portion near the front of the hood, rather than at the hinge points near the back. I just thought maybe someone would have had this issue and figured out exactly what piece is causing the issue, because shooting WD40 recklessly into the latch isn't working.

 

There is only so many moving parts on it. I use white lithium grease to lube those areas. Could be the actual bar on the hood rubbing when the latch releases the pressure.

Hell yeah I do, no homo. This squeak is killing me every time I open it.

 

Could it be one of the rubber hood stops causing the noise?
