Default New Mustang Owner

Hello Ladies and Gentleman, Allan here, I just bought a 2010 Mustang Convertible with the 4.0 V-6 for the wife. I am not to bright on the overall Mustang History. My car is a Vette and I know all the makes, models, generations, and body changes. I weas wondering if there is a series of nomenclatures specific to certain bodies and years of Mustangs? (For example with the vettes a 1953 to 1962 is a 1st generation or "C-1" Corvette, the 1984 to 1996 is a 4th generation or "C-4" and tehy are currently building the "C-6") Is there such a thing for the Mustang owner? I have a lot of questions and a lot to learn about this little Pony so I will probably become a pain in your ****......

I REALLY like the look of the black stripes/top on the silver car! As for history...there are MANY books out there, but I have REALLY been enjoying this one that my fiancee gave me for my birthday:

http://www.amazon.com/Mustang-Origin...531481&sr=1-36

It only goes up through the 90s but it is awesome for the historical perspective.

Your (and my) generation is known as an S197. These are the 2005-present models that are built on a HEAVILY modified version of the chassis originally designed for the Lincoln LS / Jaguar S-Type / Ford T-Bird. However, so little of that platform remained after all the modifications that it is really very different...

Anyway, welcome to the Mustang family!!

Congrats to you and your wife!
Welcome to MF!
If she is looking to add some HP, go with a CAI/Tune combo from American Muscle or Brenspeed. They really wake up the Stangs and make it more enjoyable to drive!
FYI - 2005 +, model S197

Hey kevin Thanks, I plan on a CAI/tune and a dual exhaust, the 2010 V-6 came with a single, but I will have to get the lower rear valance when I do the exhaust.... There is always something to do with any of these things

Welcome to the forum. I bought my g/f an '06 Legend Lime Pony. Nothing like a woman that loves the Stang as much as we do.
