It'll probably be the 3.5 or 3.7. Better fuel efficiency than a V8. Which will enable them to sell more cars and put more money toward furthering engine tech.

I'm sure that'd be the point, besides possibly helping with 2016 CAFE and emissions standards.
I'll put 20 bucks down right now that the 2014 Mustang gets direct injection for the new model.

and now
3.5L 365 HP T/C v6 with 17/25 MPG?

Why? more horse power than the 3.7 sure but same MPG as the 5.0. Do they need a transitional car that between 305 HP and 412 HP? seeing as its already turbocharged and direct injected it will likely not yield as much power from mods as the current line of engines. MAYBE the ~200 HP 2.0L but I doubt it.
I doubt that Ford will put 2.0L or a 3.5L Ecoboost engines into Mustangs too.

What will happen instead is EcoBoost will instead be put on the new 3.7L and 5.0L engines.
The 3.7L and 5.0L engines were already designed since day one to use direct injection. A simple addition of a few machining steps in head milling at the factory, and future 3.7L and 5.0L heads will mount direct injectors.

The 3.5L EcoBoost engine from the SHO will not be put into the Mustang. Not when the existing 3.7L and 5.0L engines were designed to one day mount Ecoboost from the factory.

Ecoboosting the 3.7 and 5.0 would be the next best thing to a hybrid but, with much more power and sound.

Seems to me an Ecoboosted 5.0 would be the new gt500? It would definitely make over 500hp.

Let's not forget that a RWD MT SRA presents about a 12% loss through the drivetrain vs. about 27% for a FWD-based ATX AWD system that the SHO uses. So whereas a 365HP engine on the SHO gets about 266.5hp to the wheels, a mustang with the same engine would deliver about 321. Just food for thought.

They do, it's called the GT500, just it's a 5.4...LOL. Ok enough of being a smart ***....I do think that there is room for 4 engines/powerplants. You would have the v6, the Ecoboost V6, 5.0, & the GT500. Why not? Ford (along with GM) have always used the V6 as the "cash cow". Remeber the V6 is sold as many things including fleet cars, rental cars, etc....

I say make it, the more choices the better (with limits off course). Would the Ecoboost pull sales from the V6 & the 5.0, off course, but when you add all the motors/car sales data if the cumulative is higher, then you added to your overall sales. Win for Ford!

I really don't want payments again, but I'd be happy to go 40k in debt for that.

GT500 is going to need another 100hp though. 500hp GT, 650hp GT500 sounds good.
