Default Remote Start Question

Does anyone have the Ford installed Remote Start on their vehicle? I have the factory Alarm and a dealer installed Ford remote start. They charged me 525 for it (installed).

It's not this model, but it looks like this: (http://www.fordaccessoriesstore.com/...964&detail=yes)

They tucked the unit up under the dash on the far left (if you are looking at the steering wheel), but they didn't secure it. It's just shoved up there. I found in install manual for 2002, and it said to tie wrap it to the wiring harness.

Should I have them secure it? Will it get damaged banging around up there?

no i dont have it..i would get it but i cant...i have a manual transmission..to put a remote start in you would have to override the clutch interlock to allow the car to start on its own..if the car was parked in neutral than that would be fine..but everyone who owns a 5 speed knows you always park it in first..so teh car would fly foward on its own when started = bad

so as far as i know it is against the law to override the clutch interlock

Mine was outsourced by the Ford Dealer I purchased the car from... they charged me 250 for the remote start... the install is wonderful, and the master control unit is bolted to the firewall up high above my left foot.

My unit is a UNGO / Clarion.

I'm going to ask them to secure it properly. I really think my sales guy is great, but I'm not happy with the install at all.

Hey Prof, those wheels are perfect. Every time I see a message by you, I get wheel envy.

Thanks tsteffes..

They are just like yours only shinier

Hey..d efinately take your car back to the installer and have him to the corrections. That way if something screws up it is his problem.

I'm not a big fan of remote start.

If you don't set the controls to heat/defrost or a/c the night before, it's just a waste of time.

I know most people will say that your car will be warmed up and you can turn the defroster or heater on when you get in the car and it will take less time for the process if you forget to set the settings the night before.
