Says it requires 2 keys to program it but I don't know why, I would assume the original keys would still work despite the new one but again cant say for sure

When it says you need 2 keys to program though, what's that about?
I believe you need two working keys for the car so you can program the third key.....

Default Key

Yes, to program a new key yourself you need 2 working keys. If you only have one, a dealer will have to program a new one for you.

and they will charge you $100 to do so...

Go back to the dealer if they only gave you one key, not sure they are allowed to sell it to you like that. If they refuse call the corporate line, simply unacceptable.

Default Key

I took my new Switchblade key to the dealer along with the VIN#. They cut the key, it opened the door and turned the ignition fine. I programmed the new key per the instructions in the owners manual with my 2 working keys and it programmed fine and now starts the engine. I like it.

I only got one KEY, but I got Two key fobs. The salesman I bought my car from had a spare one and just programmed it for me. But no second Key.

Is this what we need?

If you want to program a new key, you have to have 2 presently working keys. The fobs are a different thing.

With shipping, I paid a total of $64.90. I have already programmed the transmitter, now I have to get the key cut.
Mine lasted long enough for me to turn the ignition approximately 15 times before the metal part of the key broke off of the plastic part. Just a heads up.

Damn, sorry to hear that. Did you ask them for a new one?
