Default Tuner required?

Getting some money back from taxes and will hopefully be buying either a new CS front or an off road hpipe. Question is, if I get the O/R H pipe ( or prochamber, haven't decided yet ) am I required to get a tuner?? I can deal with the "Check engine" light being on while I save a little more for the tuner. Will it hurt performance?

Required? I don't think so. I know 3 people that rode around untuned w/ offroad pipes for months and they were fine, just a light on the dash. I put my stock pipe and tune back on for inspection, got back home and swapped the o/r x back on, then realized I left the tuner 120 miles away at my brother's house. I drove down there and got it with the CEL on and it drove fine.

Good to hear, tuner's aren't exactly cheap. I plan on getting the tuner with CAI in the future.
