I learned something important today...
Cleaned the engine today...
1. Put plastic bag around CAI air filter so it doesn't get wet.
2. Spray Simple Green liberally over entire engine.
3. Let Simple Green sit on engine for about 5 minutes.
4. Use brush to scrub stubborn spots.
5. Rinse engine throughly.
6. Start engine to help drying process...
7. Start engine again to help drying process...
8. Start engine yet again to help drying process...
9. Start engine for the fourth time to help drying process....
10. REMOVE PLASTIC FROM CAI FILTER!
11. Refer back to step 6.
12. Towel dry any remaining water.
13. Order new FRPP CAI replacement filter.

Sorry to hear that. Just wiping down after a wash keeps mine pretty claen. If it makes you feel any better I learned something today myself. That niose I thought was in my front end that's been driving me crazy the past couple days tuned out to be my shaker hood scoop really shaking. I removed it a while back to do some cleaning and I must not have tightened the TB stud that holds the front and it's gone. Big relief. I thought something was busted. I'll pick one up Monday at Ford.

Oh well, at least not as big of a mistake as you could've had. Although my personal policy on engine cleaning is to do frequent cleanings with just some detailer and a microfiber, that way you don't end up with anything really stuck on there that can't just get wiped right off!

I did the same thing last year cleaning up my Mustang for a car show. I've always wondered if it happens to anyone else.
I'm normally pretty deliberate, but for some reason I just spaced out and went to drive my car from the washing bay to the drying area at the self serve car wash. At least it was time for a new CAI filter anyway...
