Default Gear install....woohoo

so i finally found a great shop that specializes in working on stangs and to do my gears. The guy is out until may 6 so i gotta wait but he told me he would do gears for 200. Im stoked cause all my other quotes were like 400, 550, and 1000(<--dealership). I cant wait. I do have a question though because im uncertain about the future for my stang. I really want 410 gears but what if i decided to supercharge, is that to much and i should go 373 or is 410 ok with supercharger? I decided to just mod mine instead of trade it later on.

I've got 4.10s. It just takes a good tire.

Im in the same boat. I found someone in locally that will do it for 200(labor). So now I as well have to decide what gears I want 4.10's or 3.73's. I plan on superchargering down the road but i'm leaning towards the procharger or paxton so 4.10's still should be fine. Plus the 4.10s will be more fun while your N/A.

But it all depends on your situation. What kind of driving do you do? what supercharger are you planning to get? MPG loss bother you?

nice...yeah around here in AZ, I still know of only one place that I can trust to do the install but it will be pricey (prob $400). I wont be getting 4.10s till the summer so I have some time...

Based on your profile, it appears you have a 2005 Mustang GT....what gears are currently in it? I want to say that the 2005's came with 3.55's, I know my 2005 GT did. If that's the case for you, moving up to a 3.73 would not be worth it....you'd need to go to a 4.10 in order to feel any kind of difference. However, if you now have 3.31's, I personally would stick to the 3.73's. I think they are a great, all-around, gear. Just my opinion.

I love everything about my 4.10's. I too plan on either supercharging mine or in a few years trade mine in and go with something like a 5.0 or shelby possibly. But if I do supercharge mine I am leaving the 4.10s in. Only thing I regret about them, is that I am doing 3k rpm @ 80mph but I dont do much highway driving.

ya mine is auto so i have the 331 gears now. Im just uncertain because if i dont supercharge, i may regret 373 because what if i just decided to do cams or something. Wouldnt 373 not be enough. I think 410s are normally recommended going that route. But then also what if i grew a pair and did supercharger and cams...in that case would 373 be ok. Sorry for all the scenarios, i just wanna go the best way. Supercharger would be a lil while aways so would 373 put a smile on my face at least?

now changing to 4.10's do you have to get a new speedo gear or is it still applicable?!

There are plenty of people on here running 4.10s with a SC. I have yet to hear one say they thought 4.10s was too much with a SC.

I would eventually like to get a SC but dont know if it will happen because its pretty far away for me if I do get one, but I know I am getting 4.10s this year...
