Sounds good on the video, but I would love to hear Bertha growl
How long did it take you and how much for the covers?

LOL! Sorry bro!

I took my time and did it over a two day period. The first day I did the passenger side and start to finish was about 7 hours. Took A LOT of breaks tho and never got in a hurry. The second day took about 4 hours.

Here's the valve covers from American Muscle.

I got the caps from American Muscle. I bought the kit that included all the caps.

Did you change the tune to adjust the idle on it?
Also... do you get a hunting idle on the RPMS?
If you're not sure what I mean it's when you are at a stop and the RPMS go up and down slightly. If so I would tell you DONT mess with it unless it is REALLY bad.

I spent MONTHS trying to get rid of mine through three different tuners and learned it was just gonna stay that way and was normal.
But dont settle for one that goes like from 400 to 1500 or anything.
Or if it tries to die on you.
A hunting idle of about a 200 or so range is normal though.

Mine when finally adjusted went from about 500 to maybe 800.
I'm running the 87 street tune now from Bama tunes. I believe the idle is set at 750. I don't get any variation in idle except when I first start it. It'll jump between 750 and 1100 rpms for about 2 mins and then settles down. After that it's fine.

Thanks hammeron! You helped out more than you know. I had your write up printed out and referenced it through out the whole install.

I am replacing my valve covers this weekend. It would be a lot better if I were doing the cams too, but just the covers this time. I had a few questions about the install

Did the FRPP covers come with the cover bolts and/or grommets or did you have to reuse the original ones?

The workshop manual calls for two ford spec gasket removers (ZC-30 and ZC-31) did you use them or something else to remove the little bit of gasket sealant that is there?

you car looks and sounds great.

Sorry to revive an old thread.
