Default Quarter Window louvre install

Hello. I picked up a set of window lounges from dgcustoms. I'm looking for any install hints to ensure they don't fall off. I believe I need to wash the windows with warm water and dish detergent and then wipe them down with alcohol. I would then need to apply the adhesive to the window, and stick them on. Am I missing anything? How long do I hold them in place? Thanks for any advice.

Do it when I warms up and take your time. Once those baby stick on to the window, that's it. Good luck.

After washing my window I took a razor blade and scraped the glass then wiped them with alcohol. Don't drive your car for at least 24 hours after you install them to let the tape cure. Mine have been on the car for almost two years now with no problems.

I installed my quarter panel louvers from AM yesterday evening and followed the instructions to a "T". I traced the louver on the box it came in, cut it out and used as a template to do the measurements. I marked the measurements with painters tape and made sure it was straight. Worked like a charm!
Wipe down the backside of the louver (where the 3m double sided tape sticks to) with the Ahesive promoter, apply the 3M tape on the louver, wipe off the car with alcohol and then apply louver onto the car. My wife helped hold the louver on one side and we made sure it lined up on both sides. Hope this helps!

I installed similar ones 3 years ago, the Street Scene louvers. But I applied the tape to the back of the louver first, then positioned the louver on the window. Before applying tape I positioned it several times just to make sure the fit was right and to practice an accurate fit. You only get one chance.

It's all in the prep.
  1. DO NOT use regular denatured, 70% alchohol. You need greater than 90% or get a good solvent from an auto parts store just for that purpose. 70% will leave trace amounts of other constituents that can cause the adhesion to weaken and fail.
  2. Perform the install in ambient temperatures between 60 and 80 deg. F.
  3. Do NOT drive the vehicle for at least 12 hours; 24 hours would be best. ANY vibration can have a negative impact on adhesion while the adhesive cures.

Sounds like I did it right! I used the alcohol packets provided by AM. I installed the louvers in the evening and the temp was around 72 degrees and I let the louvers cure over 24 hours. Thanks for the reassurance. =-)

be sure to hold the luvers in place for as long as you can. At least 30 seconds IIRC
