Default Help Please

I do not have enough posts to ask this in the drag racing section. So will ask here.
I have a 2011 mustang gt 5.0 6 speed manual. I just downloaded a racing tune, using SCT. I plan on going to Bremerton strip this weekend for test and tune.
I have not been racing for over 20 years.
Should I use the sport trac when racing or what?
Thanks in advance,
Jim in Sequim

Default Traction Control

Not familiar with the sport trac on the 2011's, but on my 06 I turn the traction control off at the strip.

My race tune has traction off and slip light on. 07 GT here.

When I had the launch setup at 3500 RPM (neutral limiter) changing gears = 100% traction. The car sounded like it was going to break but when clutch goes in it jumped rpms limiter to 3500 let out and stomp on it it would just jerk... no tire spin at all from 1st to 2nd. Not sure if that makes sense. I do not go to the track so I had that removed since max neutral limiter was 4K with the launch control option. Now... just minimal tire spin and no funky jerk....

You want traction control off. Call the people you bought the race tune from and ask them if they turn it off with the tune. When you go to race, you dont have to go full throttle on your first runs. Get comfortable with the car first. Fun and safety are your first concerns. Your ET comes after those two. Enjoy yourself and you will learn your car. Its not easy launching that much HP and getting a fast ET on street tires.

Not all tunes are written equally. Contact the tune author as stated above. I believe you want all forms of traction control off. We're a big enough hinderance to decent times by ourselves; we don't need stupid electronics making it any worse...
