Tim
Tim I know exactly how you feel. I have a black vipertruck and when it was new I had to take it in for warranty work. The car has no door dings, no scratches......freaking perfect and the tech opens the door and smashes it into the lift. I didnt notice till after I left the dealership so I couldnt do anything about it. I park all the way out in the weeds everywhere I go to avoid door dings and the dealer fubar's me. I complained the next time I HAD to go there but it didnt matter....damage was done.

Yowza!

I parked my GT in the shop the other day and the techs kept walking by oogling it..
The key difference is i doubt many doctors are getting away with feeling up hot blondes every time they walk in.

If im somehow wrong please let me know so i can go into the medical field

Being a mechanic, the only person that touches my car is me. If I need tires, I jack the car up at the house, pull the wheels, load them into my truck and take them to the tire shop. Yeah, I'm that ****.

Lol, that is awesome. I don't have a GT, but when I took my v6 to firestone to get the snow tires off it came back with the center arm rest (which I had just cleaned- before handing them the keys) covered in what looked like oil or sweat/slick marks... It seemed like they had gone to McDonalds in my car and eaten in the car because it reeked of the stuff. I then cleaned out the car at home fuming to myself about it (among other things Firestone tried to screw me over).

Then I found the freaking bag, they bloody LEFT the McDonalds bag IN my back footwell! I took it back to the shop handed the tech the bag and said I was cancelling their payment from my card... He didn't take that well, so my dad had to raise some hell before they actually refunded us lol.

Never going back there again, gonna take it to my dealer. At least they are a bit more courteous about raping my car...

I am really dreading taking my new '07 GT to the dealer with the Whipple on it to have the strut mount TSB issue looked at. I have 90 days of certified warranty available, but I really don't want them driving my car with the Whipple. I can only imagine how the test drives will be handled. This thread just makes me wonder even more. I wish I could de-tune the car somehow.

On this same subject of how attentive techs are with vehicles - I've had many new Fords over the years. While at the dealership in '96, my new Ranger was backed into and the dealership had to re-do the whole front end. And THREE times over the years I've found 3 Snap-On ratchet handles in my vehicles left behind by technicians. One of them was a huge half-inch ratchet handle wedged between the engine block and alternator only a half inch from the spinning fan!!!

When I had the gears done I put the SC in valet mode. The owner said the car was fast so I checked and saw the screw was still secured. So he either knew how to undo the screw or thoguht 300 rwhp was fast. I couldn't imagine what he would have said about 550rwhp!

My local dealership has a tech that used to own a speed shop and installed a trubo several years ago in my car. I know him personally after all these years. I trust my car with him, if I ever need something doen ata a stealership, he takes care of it.

I have seen and heard (tires peeling out) in a yellow 00 Mustang GT over at the shop I used to work at INSIDE the garage. It had a nice exhaust system in it, so naturally the 18 year old tech had to rev the hell out of it and show off. Same with the STi's or new Eclipses people were trading in. Hell, I remember one time walking out for lunch and I spot him in a brand spanking new Sixxer, he looked at me like "oh yeah!" popped it in first and tried to drift around a sharp corner.. nearly hitting the another car (he did not see apparently) as well as two sales people.. dude, WTF? Really?

I also caught another tech test driving a new 5.0 that came in for under coating.. since when does that require a road test? lol

Mount a web cam in the car and tell the tech that it is wired into the ignition. When the key is on, the camera records. It doesn't actually have to work, it just needs to look like it does.

This is all so true!!! I'll never go to a shop, dealer, etc. Unless it's a warranty issue. Even then I ALWAYS have problems with them! I have a bad rear gear whine right now that's covered under warranty, I'll probably just do it myself to save the car from any damage, dirt, & general mistreating!! I used to be a ASE certified tech. Myself, I've seen how things get repaired/driven. It's a shame.
