Default 2 days after owning my 2012 mustang gt, review

I will post pictures later this afternoon. It's a red 2012 mustang gt coupe stick shift premium. The car is awesome to drive and definetly looks good. The shifter is good and the interior is top notch. I'm coming from an 04 civic automatic by the way. Before I got the car I had the impression that the mustang gt was very powerful and when I accelerate my back will sink into the seat. This doesn't seem to be the case, unless I'm doing something wrong. Which gear should I pull in to get this back-into seat feeling? like should I be in 3rd and take it to 5000rpm or something? When I step on the clutch there is a small creak noise is this normal? it's not a loud noise but just a small creak. There is also a little noise coming from the suspension but I guess that's normal, I'm a little concerned about the clutch. I have 200 miles on the car.

Shift at 4-5k rpm for throwback in seat.
Also... how much it does this will also be determined by what gearing ratio you have.
3.35 gears will NOT throw you back as far as the 3.73's that are also offered.

Check to see what your gearing ratio is.
I'd definitely get 3.73's if I did not have them.
But you have to go to a shop that KNOWS what they are doing.
If you don't you can EASILY get a bad instal and you will get gear whine among other things. You really have to be SPOT ON when it comes to a gear install.
Keep in mind though you will shift MORE with 3.73's because you reach RPM's faster.

Congrats on the 5.0!

Excuse the sarcasm, but...

If you can't bury your back into the seat of a 5.0....

a. Look under the hood, is it a 5.0 V8?
b. Press right pedal to floor in gear.
c. Got gas?
d. Leave mom at home.
e. 1st gear is upper left.
f. Bring it by my place and I'll show you how!

I'm sure you will soon figure it out.

Sarcasm over.

Good luck with the new ride!

I get the impression from reading on this forum that the 2012's are detuned until a certain mileage is reached. Maybe someone who knows that to be fact or fable will chime in.

thanks, yeah i have the standard gear ratio that comes with the GT thats the 3.35 i guess. Damn wish I had the 3.73's oh well. I dont get it though my friend has a 2004 mazda with the 2.3 engine stick shift, and I can feel the back into seat feeling riding on the passenger side. Maybe i need to break into my engine, i only have 200 miles. How about the small clutch noise when I press down on it, is that normal?

What kind of noise is it?

And the 5.0 with 3.55's IS fast. It just does it more gently.
Id get a 3.73 or 4.10 swap.
Find a shop that has EXPERIENCE doing it to THESE cars.
Or else it may hurt lol.

For me, I have always felt that a car has more power when riding as a passanger because you arent focused on everything that is required to drive a car....you are just along for the ride.

Also, I have a 2008 GT and even before the CAI and Tune, I got the back into the seat feeling with the 3:55 gears.

Each car is different so I think you just have to find the sweet spot to get that feeling. If you get that feeling in the Mazda, you should definitely be getting it in the 5.0

These cars trick you into thinking they are not accelerating as fast as you think it should. Anyone who owned a 87-93 5.0 knows when you hit the push rod motor you got slapped into the back of the seat. These new motors are so much smoother, the car is quieter, more comfortable, better built, heavier etc you don't get the sensation as the 5.0 back in the day gave. Really hard to explain but as a daily driver I love my 06gt, but the 5.0 was raw, more fun and was like driving go cart with monster engine as the interior disintegrated around you.

My suggestion is, time your 0 -60 and you'll see you really are flying.

I've heard that the 5.0's seem to pick up about 20-40 RWHP (dyno seems to confirm) after a minor break-in period of 10k-20k miles. Also, many seem to report lackluster performance in the lower RPM range.

Be sure to research and buy some custom tunes. They've been showing gains of 30-40 RWHP.
