m90 FTW........seriously!
My local track has its biggest race of the season Memorial Day Weekend. Its a 4 day event. Friday night had 3 classes for cars: Summit Sportsman for 12 seconds and slower, then a pro class and a really fast super pro class.
My first to qualifying runs were new PB's 12.29 and 12.27 both at 112 mph. Previous best was 12.41 so I was stoked and felt like a winner already. The best was about to come.
Round 1 beat a 68 Camaro, 13.75 car
Round 2 beat a 66 mustang,12.90 car
Round 3 beat a new Camaro SS with headers and CAI. He ran a 13.07 but said he hit high 12s the night before.
Round 4 Semifinals.....beat a 2000 Trans Am 12.85 car and big time veteran racer. Felt good to beat her as she has crushed me for years! LOL
Round 5 Finals..... beat a Fox body stang 13.75 car.
It was awesome......I was so stoked. My reaction times were very good (in the fives) and the car was so consistant. Whether hot or cold it would run within .03 each run. Cold runs 12.27/12.29 and a little warm 12.33/12.36. When hot lapping 12.51/12.53. We had 5 oil downs so there were lots of delays (final race was at 1:50 AM) but I really learned a lot about my car. This was only the 3rd time racing with the m90 so I'm still learning its potential for braket racing. I got a nice trophy and $325. Sounds like money towards that new driveshaft I want! LOL Swapping the street tires back on at 2 AM wasnt so bad after winning!
My two racing buddies didnt make it that night which was probably a good thing cause on Sat nite I was running the 12.90 class trying to slow my car down and they kept telling me "you gotta brake dude". Well I braked and lost by .01 in the first round! LOL

.. it's often easier to run a slower time up top by not aggressively launching as hard off the line. My best times this season have all been 13.0/13.3@111mph, all with 2.2/2.3 60 ft.s and having to let off the throttle, then back on all the way up to 65-70mph.
Yup, I had ZERO traction on street tires lol I wasn't able to accelerate completely without pause until the top of 3rd gear and half way down the track!

Sweet, I've always wounderd what I might run at a track, the one here by St. Louis isn't open yet. I don't think I would go on the reg but I wouldn't mind doin it a couple of times just to see what the car can do.
