Default Best Mod for 200 Dollars?

What would you all consider to be the best mod for 200 bucks?

Your sig doesn't indicate that you have a tune so, if not, then the best mod would be waiting until you have the extra few $$ for a custom tune and handheld. Otherwise, here are a few things I'd consider putting that $200 towards:
  1. gears
  2. aluminum DS
  3. UDPs

Yeah, I need to edit that. I should be getting my tuner tomorrow (B day present)

What are UDP's?

Underdrive pulleys. They don't add RWHP but they do free-up some of the drivetrain loses (as does the aluminum drive shaft). If you afford to lose the cats, then LT headers are a great mod.

I'm not sure if I can lose the cats. The laws in my state are decently loose when it comes to that. No state mandated inspections or any of that crap. I'm just worried about the extra EXTRA noise that it'll cause and possibly attract cops if I race somebody from a light or something.

How to decide if I can afford to do that...

Anything that'll gain me 10+hp?

For $200? No. A CAI without a tuner will net you ~5hp for about 200 bucks. UDP's will free up about another 3-4hp.

I'd say the next step up would be gears. No horsepower gain, but a big jump in acceleration. And these along with install and the highly recommended t-loc will set you back more than 200. Or just go with an 8.8 rear with your gear choice. But both of these options will cost around 1k depending on the shops in your area or if you or a buddy has a good deal of experience with gear installation.

Speed ain't cheap!

I considered the 8.8 but my friend that helps me with all my installs is up in arms. He keeps saying it weighs too much and all that. I can get a GT takeoff for 100 and a cobra flange for 20

I can jack my car on stands and use a pump jack to lower it off.

My friend is a city kid. Anything that weighs over 50lbs he won't lift. I'm in the country. I lift anything that won't blow up.

For $200 you can't really get much in the way of performance.
However you could get some appearance stuff.
If I remember right your car doesn't have a chin spoiler, that would really beef up the front end of your 6.
Or you could always just save a little more and get some other performance stuff.

How much acceleration will 4.10 gears add to a stock v6?

If you can find a cheap set of GOOD LT headers, you'll pick up about 10 RWHP. Since you have the CAI & tune already, the only other big-gainer is cams with LT's if you're not going FI. Everything else is 3 here, 5 there...
