Question Engine Swap Help

Hey guys! Its been a while.

So ya, my dad and I are doing this project together. The car is an 07 mustang v6 auto. We are swapping the engine and transmission. From what I hear we also need to replace the back end, pmc, wiring, and suspension for the new powerhouse. This is NOT a matter of money, but a project for a father and a son. We understand it would be easier to sell the stang and buy a gt, but thats not what we are going to do. The car has tremendous sentimental value to us.

So anyways, here is my plan. I am going to buy an engine block and fix it up little by little, after the engine is complete, I will go ahead and buy the transmission and other parts needed for the swap.

My question is, what is a good engine to build up on? I really want a 351w carbureted engine for my stang. I wanted an older style engine.

Any Ideas? Will a 351w fit in my car?

S197 has lots of room under the hood. Some people have put BIG BLOCKS in them. 351W will fit fine, but you'll get crappy mileage, and it may not handle as well...

Your easiest and most cost-efficient swap is to put a 4.6 or 5.4 in the v6.
Your 'needs' list is quite incomplete and not correct.
Check mustangcollective.com for details on mine and many others' v6-v8 swaps, including what all is needed to do it right.

If you want to do a carb'ed V8, good luck!

...regardless...a Mustang really deserves a V8!

Are there any pros and cons for a 351w, 5.4, 5.0 and 4.6? I don't really know which to get.

If you are gonna do a CARB set up and switch to a push rod, skip the small block and go big. 460 block stroked to 500+CI. With a mild set up you are looking at 650rwhp.

So its easier and more cost-efficient to put in a 5.4 eh? What would that entail?

2005redfire6 just showed me this link.
If you don't have an account its worth it just to see this page.

I'm also looking at a 5.4 swap, so this seems like a good write up.
