Default Power Steering Issue - Fixed

I sent my car to the shop to get that power steering problem fixed, and it was horrible.

He said my power steering pump was totally destroyed, and my steering rack was in just about the same shape. Not only that, but when they pulled it into the garage, they realized my parking gear was slipping, and my transmission needed servicing. The total ended up being $1200.00.

Learn from me. Don't let any noise or stiffness go unchecked.

Wow... Parking gear slipping??? There is no "parking gear"
The steeing is power assisted, if the pump wasn't pushing metal filings through the system, you probably didn't need a steering rack.

It was pushing metal fillings through the pump.

And idk what to call it. The transmission slips when I put the car in park. It doesn't engage till the car rolls back about 6 inches.

And you were still able to drive with a destroyed rack and pump? Not to mention the transmission issues. Sounds kind of odd to me.

Mine does that. Never had any problems. My dad's 09 GT/CS does it. He has not had any problems. There are only 9K miles on his car by the way. Even my mom's Honda Pilot does it a little.

So from what I can tell, 3 things could be happening here. They took you for a ride, what I am thinking of is different then what you are thinking of, or 3 cars with low miles (2 of which are less then 2 years old) are all having the same transmission problem.

My cars never roll back or forward when put into park. Maybe it's because I use the parking brake.

It is indeed because of the parking brake.

Mine also rolls a few inches when I put it in park without the parking brake. Albeit not 6, but maybe 2-3. Parking brake would always solve that issue though.

$1200 is a lot of hurt.

Sorry, I was being sarcastic. I always use it. I don't understand people that don't, unless they live where it might freeze.

I figured after I posted haha. To be honest I've gotten in the habit of not using it myself, since I haven't seen a hill in I don't know how long lol.
