Default Bigger rotors..Caliper adjustment???

ok guys soo im getting bigger rotor for the front and back.. does this require the brake calipers to be moved back??? the front rotors are 13s so would i have to move the caliper back an inch to fit?? i was thinking maybe just drilling another hole in the bracket to make it work.. unless theres new caliper brackets that are pretty cheap

good luck. its gonna be hard to get them to fit and there is no where to drill. Why do you need to go to 13in? your stocks are 12.4 and plenty.

+1, and goodluck on finding caliper brackets. Either get a bigger brake kit, or get bigger rotors that come with supplied caliper brackets.

If you are going to do it, your better off doing it right and getting a set of larger brakes with real calibers. Getting larger rotors in the rear can actually throw the braking balance off and make the stopping power overly aggressive in the rear.

Negative because there isn't much lower you could drill a hole on the caliper brackets in order to accommodate the larger rotor.

That is an altogether awful idea. Brakes are a critical part of the vehicle and may very well save your life - or take it. Do not go hacking up brackets to make bigger rotors fit. If you want bigger brakes, do them right and get the correct brackets, if they exist. You can't just throw bigger rotors on a car without a lot of work, and a fair amount of money.

Unless it's a 05-10 V6, where you can swap out the brackets for larger GT ones very cheaply. But you're spot on about everything else

Thank you all for backing me up. If its worth doing, its worth doing right. And spending 50 bucks on brakes aint doing it right.

This is also true in 89-95 SHOs, where the 96+ brackets bolt on (well, on the 94-95s, anyway, the 89-93s require the knuckles out of the 94-95 as well) and give a bigger rotor. Going from 10.9" to 11.6" is a big upgrade!

But yeah, unless different size brackets are made for that car that bolt on, you can't just slap bigger rotors on. And even then, you have to use the size of rotor that the upgraded bracket is designed for.
