Skinny mirror?

My rearview mirror makes the cars behind me look skinnier than they are. Its like a fun house mirror, sort of. I can tell because my sideviews show them normal width. Is this a feature or is mine bad?

I never noticed this visual effect on my rear mirror...will have to take a look later...
