Default JLT vs C&L CAI w/tune

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a CAI for my '07 convertible. I use it as a daily driver and some "fun" drives on the weekend. Eventually I'd like to put in gears as the only aftermarket upgrade I have now is axle-back Pypes Violators. I'm on the fence as to which CAI to go with, JLT or C&L. Is either one a better fit for the car or is it a coin toss for either, even though the C&L is more money? Thanks for your input as this is a great forum with lots of info.

I would go with what you think looks better. They will net you pretty much the same HP and the enjoyment will be identical. Just look them over and make sure the looks are pleasing to you. I went with the JLT and have loved every minute of it. Probably the easiest install i've ever handled, literally took 5 minutes and you can assemble the CAI entirely before you go to install to make it easier. Whatever you chose I'm sure you'll enjoy it.'

Here's a pic of what I chose (pre-valve cover/TB paint):

Same performance.
Ditto to what Baker said.
Get the one you think looks better.
The C&L's heat shield was kind of annoying for me to adjust to sit right though.

To clarify they will both net you about 3-5 RWHP w/o a tune (and probably throw a CEL) and about 20-25 RWHP with a custom tune. You'll need the handheld that comes with the tunes anyway for when you do your gear change.

EDIT: My bad... Your thread title says with tune...

You’re going to net about the same result s no matter what, so just get what you like the best. I have the FRPP CAI (Bullitt intake) imo it looks the best of the bunch, there really is no contest.

yeah I had the JLT CAI w/ tune when I have my 08. Either CAI is good, just make sure you get a good tune.

I went with JLT because it was cheaper and performs the same.

BTW: The CAI was the first performance mod I have ever installed and it was a breeze.

I bought the JLT carbon fiber for my 2012 GT, and i love it. It looks great and the performance and sound is outstanding.

Thanks for all your input. Still haven't made a decision, my son is installing the JLT and I'll be albe to see, first hand, what it looks like on his car.
