Default Thoughts on used Mustang

I currently drive an 06 V6 mustang that I have thoroughly enjoyed over the past 3 years. I want to now upgrade to a 2011 mustang with the new 3.7L because of the massive increase in horsepower and fuel economy. I have been watching the market for 2011s used at a good price for awhile and I came across a good deal on one loaded with options. From what I can tell it looks excellent but it was a corporate fleet vehicle according to carfax. That is the only thing that worries me. It is a good deal but should I worry about problems in the future? I would no matter what extend the warranty and currently it as 27000 miles on it. (Automatic trans)

Thanks in advance!
Nik

I don't see why you should really be worried. Based on the mileage, I would guess it wasn't beaten on too badly, sounds like it just hit the highway for whatever company it served time under.

Naturally we don't know too much about reliability on both the 5.0 and 3.7L but so far issues aren't abundantly showing up. I say go for it if you have a good deal on the line

Try a test drive, and then if the carfax is clean (other than the fleet vehicle) then you should be ok. Many times these "fleet cars" are given to one person as a company vehicle and then sold soon after. It could be better taken care of then presumed if that is the case.

Also the warranties offered by ford are extremely good (power-train, road side assistance) so I would have confidence in the car. JD power estimates a 9.0/10 for the new car but I would take that with a grain of salt because of how new these engines are (as pdonket said).

PS: We have nearly identical cars lol. Sad to see it go.

It has been a great car. I drive mine in the winter all the time from my college in Iowa back up to Minnesota no problem. Hopefully I can say the new one will be even better!

I'm sure it will be better in the winter, what with the new stabilitrack equipment and stuff. Good luck!

With mine being a post rental, I'd say go for it ...

I got a '10 used in January. Doesn't worry me at all. Although it only had 16,000 miles on it.

Personally, I wouldn't get a fleet vehicle. 27,000 is a lot of miles for an '11, but I cringe evertime I hit the next 1,000 on the odo, so maybe it's just me.

Maybe hold out a little longer and see what comes your way? Just my .02.

There is a long thread on this subject. A lot of members who bought fleet vehicles posted about their experience. NOT A SINGLE member who posted had a bad experience. If you think about the reasons that dealers might have a used 2011 in their stock already (repossession, lemon, salvage), buying a fleet vehicle seems much safer. The car probably was well-maintained at least. Just do what you'd do with any used car: get a trustworthy mechanic to check it out first.

For the record, I bought a 2 year old V6 with low mileage that also was a fleet vehicle. I got a great price and haven't had a lick of trouble with it. Most of the two year old used sixers you'll find on the market are formal rentals.

Bought mine used with 33k...you should just test drive and see how it drives. If it goes smoothly, go for it!
