MPG's with FRPP Cams? Who is getting what?

Hey what some numbers for those with FRPP cams? I haven't run too many tanks on these yet, but my mpg's seem to be a lot lower? what are some you getting for averages?

My MPG's dropped about 1 mile per gallon. I was getting 20 - 21 MPG and now getting 19 - 20 MPG. I am running the 87 tune from American Muscle/Bama Tunes.

I dont have FRPP Hot Rods but I do have the Comp Mutha Thumpr cams. Between the cams, 4:10 gears, and driving it hard everywhere, I get about 12 mpg.

When my car was stock with just a Steeda CAI(Brenspeed tune), I was gettin 13.x in city driving and roughly 25 on all highway. I haven't got a goodf feel for my averages yet since I have had the car back just under a week after L/T,cams, and gear install, but definetely feels like i am going to lose 1-2 mpg in city. With dyno tune I have to run 93 octane, but might have to order some some Bama tunes so I can run 87 for all my DD driving, then pop the Dyno tune in for some fun.

Cams, LT's, and gears at the same time, yea, you're going to drop a bit for sure. If that's what you feel you lost, 1-2, that's probably about right. Also, the car is more fun with those mods, don't forget that. Especially the gears. It might be hard to notice, but you probably got your foot in it a little more than you did before as well.

I have only used about 10 gallons in the tank, and yep I have used my foot more to see how the car felt. Love the sound too.
I just wondering what people were experiencing in mpg's with the cams to what see what I might expect to lose once I get back to my regualr driving standards.

Hell, when I addeds cams, longtubes and gears, I went from 17-18 down to 11-12. lol But it's not a DD either so whenever I do drive it, I'm beating on it. I rarely shift below 5k rpms

We did cams, long tubes, and gears at the same time on our 06GT when we had it.
We lost about 7mpg I'd say. I may be overshooting it by a few miles though.

But I tell you this. We DID NOT REGRET doing that ONE LITTLE BIT.
After putting those mods in the car was like a COMPLETELY different beast.
It was in one word, AWESOME.

I'd sacrifice the mpg ANY day for what those mods gave us.
If you are really concerned about MPG, like... very much concerned, I would not do those mods.

But like most people we did not buy our 06GT for the gas mi.
The new Mustangs have great MPG and power. Much better MPG, so you can be a bit of a tighty on MPG and still enjoy the cars, but for the 05-09GT's.... if you are a MPG freak you should have bought a V6 or a slower foreign made car.

The 05-09GT's are not for those MPG sticklers.

My gauge cluster shows an average of 16.8 mpg. Thats with cams and all my mods.

Blacksmoke Aug 11, 2011 11:06 AM

Oh just as a cap on my post.
After all those mods I got about 13-14MPG city driving I would say.
It will vary depending on driving habits as well.

Especially with a manual tranny.
