Default Shoe Polish on matte black stripes?

Hey guys,

Can I use a black shoe polish sponge type applicator on my MATTE/FLAT black VINYL stripes? Just curious as I have some nasty white dots appearing on my stripes on the hood of the car.

Gracias!

I wouldn't. I would think a vinyl conditioner like 303 aerospace protectant would bring back the color. Not sure if it'll help any white dots... have you tried cleaning them off with soap and water?

Not used soap and water, but I will give that a try. I tried to clay bar it off but it did not work. They don't look like holes in the vinyl from road debris, I have no idea what the crap is.

DON'T!

That being said, a picture would really help. You have to be careful with matte stripes. Using the wrong with 1 time could ruin them forever. If a claybar and soap don't seem to be working, it may be a problem with the stripe itself. Like, something got on the stripe (bugs, acid rain, etc) and messed it up. Like I said, a pic would really help. For future reference, I would try Adam's SVRT. The stuff works great on many things from matte stripes to plastic trim to tires. Here is a thread that may help http://www.adamsforums.com/forums/ge...ions/12124.htm

Dude, thanks for that link brother! I need to invest in that stuff, looks legit. I will buy it after I get my new vinyl lettering put on my rear.

Thanks!

Clay bar is not for vinyl stripes.

"Do not use heavy abrasives or aggressive
polishing methods as they can damage the stripes beyond repair."

Just use vinyl protectant on mine, no problems. Been on the car at least 3 years and it lives outside.
