Talking Busy Weekend

This weekend was a beating - Hot Rod cams, Pypes LTs & O/R X, J&M PHB, UMI LCAs & relo brackets, CDC Classic Chin Spoiler, Redline Elite Hood Struts, Amsoil in the engine & trans, and Champion plugs all installed. I did have the help of a fellow MF’r. We started Fri evening and were finished at lunch today.

2006 GT

I do have have few issues to work through. My bama tunes were updated for these mods, but O2's are throwing codes. Plus it bucks and doesn't drive very well below 1300rpm. I'll email them later. I've got some nasty rattles coming from somewhere near where the trans bolts to the engine. Not sure what that is. I've heard of trumpeting but i've never heard it. Pretty sure I know what it is now. It only occurs in certain rpm ranges. How do I get rid of it? Plus, I have a lot of new rattles & buzzes from all over the rest of the car. Oh, and I had zero issues with the plugs. I soaked them with PB blaster, let them soak for 2hrs, broke 'em loose, soaked again for 2hrs, then eased 'em out. They groaned & creaked a lot but none broke.

Time for some beer!

Congrats man!! Yeah my exhaust does trumpet (atleast I think), but that is probably from the o/r x pipe. The vibrations and rattles come with the exhaust as well lol. I now hate having change and cups in my cup holder because all I hear is the vibrating. Also I would definitely give AM a call and they should be able to help you out with your tune.

Thats way too much sh*t to do in weekend. With longtubes and cams your gonna have trumpeting most of the time. Mine was hideous. To cure the trumpeting I cut in some pypes m80s after the h pipe but before the over axle. They really deepened the tone and cleaned up the sound. They are cheap too.

A rattle coming from the trans area......did you retighten that bolt after the header install? With an LT install there are lots of bolts your tightening. Go over the entire exhaust making sure you dont have any rubbing. Mine was hitting the bottom of the trunk. It took me days to figure that one out. It wasnt so obvious when laying on your back looking up.

Congrats on a lot of work and to think I'm tired from f*cking with my DS all day. In and out 3 times today.......no fun.
Car sound amazing.

The trumpeting sound is obnoxious. Some M80's is the answer? So my exhaust will go LTs, O/R X, M80s, then stingers? And that'll fix it. Obviously I dont have cats at the moment but they'll be going back in when I head back to TX from FL.
Trumpeting sounds similiar to screech found in jet engines.

I also messed up by installing more than one part at a time. Now with all of the rattles & buzzing i'm not sure which noises come from new poly bushings in the LCA's/PHB or from the exhaust.

I read the cams dont really require a break-in period. I heavily coated every friction point on the cams with lucas oil synth assembly lube. Once back together I ran it for about 15 min and changed the oil/filter. Amsoil 10w-30. I have about 75 miles on them and haven't been over 3k rpm. I just thought it would be good to go easy for a week and each day push it up a little.
