Default Mufflers and gears....

Ive been doing some research and finally bought a set of mac's for the wife's 08 gt. From reading on here it seems the dreaded DRONE area should be around 1800-2200rpm....... Right!?!? Well my wife's is around 1400-1600rpm which is just cruzin around 40 mph.......... On the highway at 55+ you can't even tell the car has mufflers. This has me wondering if the car has gears already and I three is a way to tell. We bought the car with only 12,000 miles on it and it was at a dealer....... We were told it was a demo car. It also seems to have more pep than other Gt' I've driven like mabybe it has a tune also..... Any way to tell? The car looked bone stock when we got ut.

Not sure about the tune, but if you're wondering if it came with higher gears from the factory, then it should be stamped on the diff or diff cover I believe. There's also a way to tell it with marking the axle and a tire with a marker and seeing how many times it goes around, maybe someone else can elaborate on that because I don't remember off the top of my head.

Edit: Thinking about it more, I think you mark the axle and the tire, then count how many times the mark on the axle goes around before one rotation of the tire. If it seems a little more than 3, you've got 3.31's, half way, 3.55's, almost 4, 3.73's, little more than 4, 4.10's, you get the idea. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Also be very careful with how you have everything set up if you choose to do this, take all safety precautions and more.

Do you have an auto or manual transmission?
I turn about 1900-2000 rpm at 70mph and I currently have 3.31's with an automatic.

My drone just seems to be at a much lower rpm range than what most people report.
