alternate location for trunk release switch
Ref: Silverhorse Racing S197-805
I like the look of this kit. To me it looks like a factory install.
I have been to several websites and seen customer pictures where
the switch was mounted on the headlight switch panel. The only
instructions I could find, were for installing in the glove box. Have
any of you installed the switch on the dash by the headlight switch?
If so, could you give me some instructions? I know I could run the
wires over to the passenger side and use the instructions for the glove
box to the SJB or the door sill plate. Just wondering it there is a better way.
Thanks.

AmericanMuscle sells one that mounts in the center console:

You should be able to put it anywhere you want. Just be sure it's not somewhere that you'll accidently hit it and pop the trunk while driving. Human factors is a wonderful thing...
I think it would be like the remote switch, which I think doesn't work with car in gear. I'll have to try it to confirm it. Yes AM sells two types. One that you put in the console and the one by Silverhorse Racing that is shown mounting in the glovebox. Some customer pictures show it to the right of the dash light dimmer control which is next to the headlight switch.

You can buy the kits or buy the piece-parts yourself. Either way, you can mount the switch wherever your little heart desires, although depending on the kit, you may need a few more feet of wire. No problem there...
you are right. I'm gonna rip out my power door locks this weekend. Wait they could hit my headlight switch and leave the lights on to run down my battery. How about letting the air out of my tires. All of which has nothing to do with my car getting keyed within the first 6 hours after I got it. By the time I get thru I will have my first car back. You know, you sat in it and had to pump the petals almost like on a bicycle. NOW WAIT A MINUTE. Maybe, I'll just park it in a garage.
